Gameplay Programmer – South UK – AAA Kinect and Excellent Rates!Loaded Jan 23rd 2012

Posted by Ben Langstreth

Our award winning client requires a talented Gameplay Programmer to work on a high budget, exciting new Kinect project. You’ll be making really polished fun gameplay features to be proud of. It’s always nice to feel that you are an integral part of a team making brand new genre-defining products rather than just another contractor getting the job done so it is important that you have an enthusiastic approach to making videogames.

The studio’s many benefits include: a company-wide dedication to creating class-leading work; a sensible approach to the work/ life balance (9-5); and as many drinks, doughnuts and celebrations as they can fit in the year!

We are looking for a Gameplay Programmer to join us ASAP for a 3-month contract with the possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and working on a new Kinect videogame
  • Producing technical designs
  • Producing and maintaining efficient, high-quality and well-commented code
  • Maintaining clear, well-targeted documentation
  • Optimising your code with direction from peers
  • Working closely with designers, artists and other teams

What experience you need

  • Must have excellent C++ software engineering, debugging and optimisation skills
  • Knowledge of other languages such as Lua, C# or Java would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of source control software such as Perforce
  • BSc Honours in Computer Science or related discipline
  • We think you will have at least 4 years’ experience in the games industry, ideally with experience of every stage of game development.
  • Experience of working on a motion control/Kinect title would be an added bonus.
