Games Designer – 8-9 Month contract

JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for a Game Designer to lead the design on one of several projects for exciting new console platforms.
Working with the project’s Senior Producer, they will develop detailed feature designs that can be implemented by the wider team, ensuring that the designs are clearly communicated and understood and that the client’s requirements are met. They will also work hands-on to create and balance gameplay content, and will work closely with the development team to ensure that the implementation of the design yields the intended results.
In all aspects they will be responsible for delivering work to quality and within deadlines.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working across all areas of the game design, develop creative and innovative solutions to design problems, accommodating the client’s feature requests and maintaining a focus on quality.
Work with the development team to ensure that designs are practical and achievable, and that they meet certification requirements.
Create clear and concise design documentation that effectively communicates the design, both for the publisher and the team, using a variety of formats as appropriate.
Work hands-on to create and balance gameplay content.
Work with the development team to ensure that the implementation of the design yields the intended results in terms of gameplay quality.
Own in-game text and voice-over scripts and manage changes during the localisation process.
Help plan and estimate design tasks & timescales..
Essential Skills
- Designer on at least 2 shipped titles.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven ability to think creatively and problem-solve.
- Experience designing for the current generation of games consoles and peripherals.
- Experience in creating fun and compelling gameplay content.
Desirable Skills
· Experience working within Agile development processes.
· Good knowledge of technical certification requirements for the current generation of games consoles.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Flair for creating new concepts at feature or product level
- Highly motivated.
- Works well within a team.
- Degree level education, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision when required.
