We have partnered with an exciting video games studio based in Liverpool, who require a 3D Artist to head up the art team to work on their upcoming titles.
The Artist role will work very closely with the founder of the studio, to bring the vision to life, and mentor a small team of artists, you will be proactive, self-confident, and well organised, with the ability to assist managing a small art team. Your involvement will be from concept through to sign off, all while creating your own workload, you will be the primary point of contact for art within the studio, liaising with outsourcers when required. This is a fantastic opportunity to wear multiple hats.
This role will provide the opportunity to guide and mentor the art team, working with each member of the team on a day to day basis. You will be hands on creating guidelines, and developing processes, and defining the benchmark for all Art.
This role is a great opportunity for progression into a future art director role.
Responsibilities
- Producing art for all stages of development
- Involved in game jams/ prototyping
- Creating concept art
- Setting the visual look of future projects
- Defining benchmark assets
- Creating documentation
- Ensuring standards are maintained.
- Assist producer with timelines and project scope
- Oversee R&D on new software and skill development
- Ensure quality, consistency and compliance of art, through production cycle
- Provide and receive constructive critique
- Have the ability to make difficult decisions that affect the final look of the game.
- Be involved with future recruitment for the art team.
Requirements
- At least 3 Years’ experience in the video games industry
- Involved in at least 1 full game development cycle
- Strong skills in either 3DS Max or Maya
- Experience with Photoshop
- Proficiency with Unity
- Strong portfolio containing Environments (must have) and Character work (bonus)
