Description
This studios is a world-leading VR game developer and publisher, combining innovation with excellence. They are looking for an Art Director to work alongside their Game Director and leadership team to deliver an artistic vision for their high profile, industry-leading VR game. Being able to communicate a well-conceived vision and give clear direction to the art team is essential.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Galvanising an art team towards the execution of a cohesive vision
- Managing the art sub discipline leads (including, but not limited to, environment, animation, and VFX) for time and quality of their deliverables
- Managing an agile ethos and development style and ensuring the team’s role in cross discipline working
- Responding to strategic pitch materials with creative and innovative resolutions
- Articulating and producing content to visualise early aesthetics and creative direction
- Promoting a safe environment for open critique and feedback within the team
- Effective and positive critiquing and articulation of success and failures throughout development
- Remaining objective and reactive throughout development to ensure the delivery of a strong aesthetic and creative experience
- Planning, scoping and articulating content challenges to the production team in an effective, consistent and timely fashion
- Be a point of communication between developers, marketing and external Stakeholders for a given product
- Ensuring cross discipline collaboration and alignment across the Leadership Team to foster a healthy team culture
- Working with the Art Manager to foster and support peer review, coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing within the daily art team activities
- Helping to inspire and mentor key members of staff in the creative process of conception and development, help develop your team into a stronger, better, more experienced unit
Requirements
- A highly experienced, artistic individual, proven in the ability to run a team and to creatively challenge those around them.
- Demonstrably experienced in creating cohesive and believable worlds or narratives across different styles, genres and multiple shipped products.
- Someone who is self-driven and autonomous with the proven ability to articulate, critique, interpret and translate art direction consistently.
- An open-minded individual with a creative ability, a strong sense of composition, lighting, form and colour.
- A seasoned developer who has the foresight and confidence of development experience to decide appropriate methods of execution when it comes to delivering a given vision.
- Someone who has experience and enough in-engine knowledge to deliver acclaimed, real-time games titles, that demonstrate ownable and distinctive art direction.
- Strong illustrative skills are a bonus when integrated into the world building process. If not, experience with briefing in and working closely with in-house concept teams is beneficial.
