We're partnered with a brilliantly original studio who are currently growing. Following on from the success of their first game, they are now developing more titles, and as such are growing the team. The original thing about this studio is they make games using Live Action. You may wonder, why would they need an Art Director? With the use of Cameras, their need for Digital Artists is pretty limited, they also outsource their VFX. However, they now want an Artist to come in and really set the aesthetic vibe for their future games, with this you'd begin by taking the original concept from the Creative Director and creating storyboards and concept drawings for locations, characters and assets, all the way through to helping direct camera work and actors. You'd also be heavily involved in anything visual for this studio, from marketing material, UI/UX, box art and everything in-between. It's a really varied and challenging role.
With their use of film and camera, if you have a genuine passion or interest in Film/Cinema this is absolutely the role for you!
Ideally we'd like to see:
- Really varied skillset and portfolio, including some but not all: Concept, 2D, 3D, Characters and Environments
- You would ideally be passionate about Film, TV and their influence on Games and Vice-Versa
- Strong ability to communicate vague concepts into workable ideas
- You've taken several shipped games from concept to completion
- You're able and happy to work amongst varied genres
This is a really unique and exciting role, certainly something you don't see very often. There are around 18 in the studio and they are growing at a steady and considered rate. They're currently developing a game for a platform holder for the Next Generation of consoles. They offer a salary between £45-£70k dependent on what you can bring to the role, they're a diverse and inclusive studio. Although they are based in London, they anticipate this person starting remotely, they'd eventually like to revert back to being in the studio, with a hybrid remote/onsite system.
