Build Engineer - C# - London

London based AAA Developer are looking for a Build Engineer with C# and CI experience (ideally Jenkins) to provide support to a team of circa 80 devs developing the latest VR titles.

You’ll be joining an experienced team of engineers responsible for delivering the runtime engine and tools. Working with the wider studio team, you will help to solve the challenges facing large production teams, ensuring delivery of studio technology that can be depended upon.

  • Manage the infrastructure of the build and test systems: including asset pipeline, distributed data build, automated build & test, and release systems. Taking responsibility for reliability in a business critical live environment.

  • Design, development and maintenance of the distributed, high-performance, data processing technology as part of a continuous versioning and validation system.

  • Liaising with developers, outsource, QA and production teams to support and improve the efficiency and productivity of the entire team with automation.

  • Setup and maintenance of build and test servers and associated software. Working with the IT department to ensure the deployment is robust and future proof.

 

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • Strong C# programming skills, practiced professionally for a number of years.

    Robust software engineering and software architecture principles, and a methodical approach to debugging.

  • Experience with continuous integration/delivery. Specific experience of Jenkins would be beneficial.

  • Knowledge of Perforce (or similar Revision Control software) in terms of administration and scripting.

  • Build systems such as MSBuild and Make in a high-performance distributed setting across multi-core server/desktop architectures.

  • Administration of Windows Server, and Linux.

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to self-prioritise and execute with minimal supervision. Passion and aptitude for practical software development.

  • Track record of taking responsibility and owning issues within a critical infrastructure. Excellent cross team communication skills

 

  • There will be advantage to candidates who can demonstrate:

  • An appreciation of games development for console, and a basic understanding of typical infrastructure around development.

  • Experience of asynchronous and distributed message brokering, for example, using RabbitMQ.

  • Experience with Configuration as Code such as Chef and PowerShell.

  • Database administration such as SQL Server and MySQL.

  • Scripting language experience, such as Python.

  • Familiarity working with document formats such as JSON and XML.

  • Experience of web development using Nginx, Flask and ASP.NET
