Stable and global developer are delighted to offer the role of Development Director in one of there AAA teams in the midlands. With responsibility for one of their most prestigious titles, this is a fantastic opportunity to drive forward a cutting edge simulation Motorsport IP, leading and influencing a team span of 60-80 world-class games developers.

Demanding a proven career in the games industry, the Development Director is a respected and influential person playing a key role in a high-profile title. This is a rare role and befitting of an individual with a substantial track-record in a lead production capacity having delivered several shipped titles. The business trajectory includes boundary-pushing service-lead features, so a major part of this role will be to manage many elements of development concurrently at different stages of iteration, without taking an eye of the new core project phase just around the corner.

You should also be able to balance your astute, results-driven style with being highly personable and communicative, and able to engender loyalty and great performance from your team.

Development Direction - Studio

Work with the studio leadership team to establish and communicate project goals, objectives and milestones.
Ensure all development gateways are completed on time, within the agreed budget and signed off by Exec.
Specify engagement practices and processes: Ensure all workflow is clearly determined, processes are documented, and all staff are trained in expectations of the workflow.
Drive conflict resolution for the good of the projects and business, efficiently and effectively.
Maintain regular communication with the key stakeholders to provide project status & capacity plan updates.
Executive reporting of progress, budgets, risks and issues.
Ensure that liaison with other studios and departments are done in a timely and efficient way to ensure that requirements are defined and delivered against.

Development Management – Projects

Validate and oversee the delivery of the project in accordance with the Exec agreed development roadmap.
Ensure that the project is being developed in accordance to the agreed financial budgets.
Work with senior stakeholders to create the project roadmap.
Validate weekly project progress reports, ensure mitigation against the detailed risk & issues.
Track and implement project improvement plans to drive team efficiency. Anticipate project bottlenecks and drive solutions.
Audit team health, ensuring that effective team monitoring and development is in place. Any concerns should be addressed and communicated where relevant.
Staff Management

Regular appraisal, review, mentoring and objective setting for first line reports.
Motivate key staff and maintain morale throughout the team.

Requirements to apply

Proven track record and extensive experience in AAA games development
Several shipped titles and previous ownership of the full production life-cycle
Budgeting, resource programs, senior stakeholder management, delivery of strategic vision of the game through full remit of technical and artistic implementation.
Experience managing teams of people and leading cross-functional teams
Strong understanding & experience in project management methodologies and processes within games development
Some understanding and experience of service based games and production environments would be ideal
