I am exclusively working with a Guildford based Games Company who’s current growth has created a need an experienced Online Programmer to come on board who shares their ‘big heart, big ideas’ mentality.

You will play a pivotal role not only in the team, but in the company, who provide an empowering, collaborative and fun environment to explore your creative vision and enthusiasm for games. You will be working alongside people who are truly passionate about what they do.

Right now, they are busy building a co-op action RPG game for consoles and PC that looks at the joy of discovery, which very much reflects their ethos as a business.

The role:

  • You will be reporting to and working closely with the Co-Founder/Technical Director
  • You will and take charge of the online multiplayer components of the game
  • You will take ownership over key multiplayer features
  • Learn about our (fairly low) server stack
  • Get stuck into the game and the studio
  • There are two key responsibilities to fill (If you can do 1 but not both we would still like to talk with you):
    • Help the game team build real-time multiplayer features
    • Build out and iterate on our backend server stack
  • In 6 months, you will be the go-to team member for networking and multiplayer queries, Optimising our real-time bandwidth usage and building a resilient and robust live ops architecture.


About you:

  • You will have worked on multiplayer games before
  • Have 3+ years proven industry experience
  • Love to learn and try new things even if they feel under qualified (we all feel like that some of the time)
  • Come armed with a strong technical background, where your intuition to the ‘what’ is backed up by the ‘why’
  • Show a proactive and motivated approach
  • Be at a strong C++ Level


Bonus Points (the nice to haves but not essentials):

  • Shipped a game as part of a team
  • Experience working on a cross-platform project
  • Know clever things about SQL and Golang
  • Not super-fussed about Object Oriented design
