Game Designer to join this Berlin based indie dev working on a world-famous AAA sci-fi shooter for PC & Console. Role can be in-house, hybrid or fully remote (UK & Europe only)
They are early in the production of a AAA shooter based in Unreal Engine for major consoles and PC. You’ll be joining a highly talented, diverse team of developers based in Berlin and with a US-based partner.
As a key driving force behind game design in the studio, you’ll be expected to be a creative problem solver, work closely with other departments, own the game’s core gameplay and systems, and ultimately help drive the project to release. This exciting opportunity to work with a close-knit, creative, and friendly team is ideal for an experienced Designer looking to leave their mark on a highly recognizable and anticipated game.
Responsibilities
Define, support, and communicate the game systems and features from document through to completion.
Be a proactive member of the Design team, brainstorming and developing designs, and providing feedback to other designers
Communicate and work with other disciplines to deliver design features.
Design combat encounters and spawning systems.
Build progression and in-game currency systems that are scalable and fun to interact with.
Knowledge & Experience
At least 5 years of experience on PC or Console games.
Ideally at least 1 shipped AAA title.
Experience in building and balancing game systems.
Experience in camera, character, and control design.
Ability to write and manage design documentation.
Scripting in Unreal blueprints or other visual scripting systems.
Experience with developing in 3D game engines like Unity/Unreal/Frostbite/Cryengine/etc.
Experience with Modular Workflow is a plus.
