Game Designer

  • Location: Bristol
  • Salary/rate: £45,000 - £55,000
  • Date posted: 25/10/19
  • Job reference: 7513
  • Permanent

We're partnered exclusively with one of the UK's longest standing and best known creative houses. They've been much lauded for their amazing animated films and shorts; so much so they've won four Academy Awards. Recently they've been focused on Digital Animation and are now looking to develop games as part of a push into a wider creative remit.

They have experience of Game Development, but not all of it was fully 'in-house', they are looking to change that by recruiting a Game Designer. They already have a publisher and a number of concepts, they are looking for a thoughtful and big thinking game designer to help bring these concepts to life through prototype and then on to a worldwide launch. This game will be part of a much wider multi-channel launch involving film and toys.

Once you've joined, the ambition is to build a dedicated Games Design team around you and a few other key individuals in the studio. It's a fantastic opportunity, rarely seen.

We're ideally looking for:

  • A game designer who has taken multiple projects from conception to completion
  • Someone to own and be the custodian of the original vision
  • The ability to pull back and look at the meta-game then be able to focus in on smaller game mechanics
  • Inclusive and collaborative communication skills
  • Someone with inspired and original ideas

This is a great opportunity to join a true British institution and help them develop into a new and exciting area. You will be given a lot of freedom and enjoy the ability to bring all of your knowledge and experience to set up best practices. The role is based full-time in Bristol. A comprehensive relocation package is available.

The salary is between £45,000 - £55,000 although there is some wiggle room. There is a full benefits package including subsidised canteen, onsite free parking, pension, employee assistance programme and holidays. The studio is employee owned, so you really reap the benefits of successful launches. They have a very inclusive and mindful working environment.
