Game Designer

  • Location: Brighton
  • Salary/rate: £40,000 - £50,000
  • Date posted: 06/07/20
  • Job reference: 7867
  • Permanent
This vacancy has now expired.

We're partnered exclusively with an Indie Developer based in Hove, just outside of Brighton. This studios is successful and has been making games for over ten years, they've developed several of their own IP into games for VR, mobile and PC platforms. They've recently signed a high-profile TV IP and have launched a demo for one of their own titles. They're growing and it's an exciting time to join.

The founders still get heavily involved in Game Design, but they do need time to focus on the actual running of the business, working hard to close publising deals and manage the team. As such they're looking for a Game Designer to join them, they already have two Designers, but need another  - someone who is more leaning towards the Senior/Lead end of the experience spectrum.

Ideally you'd be able to take concepts (your own or otherwise) and build them out, come back with detailed Design Documentation with a clear vision of what you think this game should look and feel like. You should also be really aware of what is making games successful commercially, what is popular, what are the trends. You will be able to fully work on these titles from start to finish with huge oversight of the creative vision.

One of the co-founders said "I think this role would be perfect for someone who has developed their own games, or who wants to, but doesn't want to run a business. This is perfect for them"

To be considered for this role, we'd love to see:

  • Long term commitment to the craft of Game Design and Games as a platform
  • You take inspiration from all aspects of games, the studio is platform and genre agnostic
  • Genuine creative love of the game development process
  • You've worked on several games from concept to completion
  • Collaborative communication skills

This is an open minded and well ran studio. They prioritise their team's well-being above all else. They offer a flexible working environment which is inclusive and collaborative. They are offering a salary between £40,000-£50,000 plus project/milestone bonuses. The role is based long term in Hove (Brighton) but could be started remotely whilst COVID-19 restrictions are in place.
