A unique independent studio in Manchester is looking to expand its highly experienced team by hiring an experienced Gameplay Programmer to be part of the core team working on all aspects of gameplay systems: design, develoment and support.
You will be responsible for the implementing and testing of all in-game UI, this will require you to be able to analyse and distil existing game UI and make propositions on where to improve. A strong will to iterate is highly advised. All Gameplay and UI will be integrally in the development and overall quality of a true AAA multi-platform development.
Requirements:
2 years’ C++ experience or a minimum of one shipped title.
Experience of C++ (11, 14), algorithms and multi-threading.
Knowledge of pathfinding, AI routines and state machines
Experience in games that have delivered complex game logic, UI, narrative and inventory systems is preferred
Excellent software design and problem-solving skills.
Excellent software debugging skills.
Able to accept feedback and must have an open approach to raising and discussing issues or iterating on features and requests.
Creative and open approach to problem-solving.
Experience with gameplay scripting.
Experience with Flash or UI libraries.
Previous titles we have worked on have received high metacritic scores over 77 and 78 respectively. They are currently working on an incredible AAA cross platform title, with more exciting projects in the pipeline. The Studio prides itself on a good work/life balance, with flexible working around core hours in a friendly and relaxed environment. They are based just 5 minutes away from the vibrant Manchester city centre, with excellent transport links, and free parking in the large car park next to the building. Free weekly exercise classes are available for all staff, including Yoga and Boot Camp.
Both permanent and contract positions are available, day rate / salary dependent on experience
