Junior Backend Programmer

A Brighton based Games studio are currently looking to expand their development team with a Junior Backend Engineer.

The team have been built with a strong AAA games foundation, bringing a great track record of developing AAA games, and are now working on a range of new titles.

Having already gained a valuable reputation in partnering with top Developers in the UK, working on games which have surpassed millions of players/downloads, the studio are now embarking on a new adventure of developing their own IP. As the Backend Developer, you will be ensuring the game runs smoothly throughout this process and be responsible for the continued development of the games.  

The studio currently have ambitious plans to grow their portfolio further and you will assist in the areas to help manage the exponential surge in users. Your main responsibilities will be to work with the studios pre-built Server and add new features to it to ensure users enjoy consistent and lag-free gameplay. This is a good chance to completely own and manage such an important part of the development cycle. 

You do not need to be an expert in this field, but having a hunger and a desire to help build scalable systems and contribute to such an important piece of games development is paramount to the role.  

A background in video games is preferred, however if you’ve built backend systems using Java in a traditional Software Development environment, then we’d still be interested in hearing from you.  

Requirements 

  • At least 1 years’ experience in a Backend Engineer position
  • Experience with Java
  • Experience or an interest in developing scalable backend systems
  • An interest in working in the Video games industry
