Are you a Lead Artist? Can you manage a team of talented creatives, give feedback and adhere long term to style guides? Do you pride yourself on having a varied and up to date 3D art skillset?

We're working with a talented and successful mobile games studio, based in the heart of London.  They are a team of sixty exceptionally talented and seriously hardworking people who devote their careers to crafting awesome original games. On average they produce around three new titles every year and deliver them to millions of players with backing from the UK’s top industry veterans and carefully selected partners. The studio loves to try new things; and so you’ll find our games on Smartphones, Console and PC platforms being enjoyed by millions of people all over the world. As they push towards ever more ambitious and high quality titles they are looking for the finest talents in the games industry to join them.

They are substantially growing their art team, under their newly promoted Studio Art Director. Among the new roles is a Lead Artist. This is a direct backfill for the Art Director who has just been promoted. This role will see you working across two titles games, almost as an Art Director for these titles. • Visually establishing, developing and maintaining the game artistic style and visual quality
  • Steer the project through strength of idea and a commitment to the quality of the vision.
  • Ensure the right tasks are tackled in the right order that will best lead to success
  • Foster good working practices and a positive working environment within your team
  • Assist Craft Art Leads and directly line-manage members of the art team, ensuring they are best capable of fulfilling their commitments
  • Develop a strong visual identity during pre-production, answering the game design and business ambitions.
  • Work with the Studio Art Director in establishing a game’s art direction and steward the vision through development stages, marketing art and live operations via Style Guides, in-depth documentation and ongoing communication.

To be considered for the role, we'd love to see:

  • A comprehensive portfolio showing wonderful examples of your craft in different styles
  • Experience leading a project or mentoring a team
  • Experience in estimating/scheduling (ideally within an agile environment)
  • Excellent organisational mind
  • Skilled in one or more of the craft areas - knowledgeable in all
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive demeanour
  • Ability to understand business and product needs and ability to decipher and adhere to existing IP styles
  • Excellent sensitivity and understanding of game narrative
  • Able to ideate and empathise with player personas
  • Able to propose art styles that suit the game narrative and design, stretch the technology and appeal to the target audience
  • Experience on multiple games and ability to work across varied art styles

The studio offers a mature, flexible and rewarding environment to work in. You will be working with colleagues who enjoy a great work/life balance and as such, love coming in to work. The studio works on multiple games on varied platforms so your portfolio of work will increase in breadth as well as depth. As well as this, the studio offers industry leading salary and benefits packages.
