This vacancy has now expired.

We're working with an established independent studio based in Manchester. They've recently celebrated 5 years, and have shipped several console games with strong metacritic scores.

They are growing thanks to new, green-lit, projects. They are looking for a Lead Artist to work alongside the Art Director, helping to manage and mentor the wider art team. You will help create visual benchmarks for the rest of the team to use as their steer for quality. Ideally you'd be getting involved in all aspects of art including Environment, Prop and Character creation. The team are working on a Sci-Fi IP, so an interest and/or passion for this style of art would be great.

To be considered for the role, we'd ideally be looking for:

  • A portfolio demonstrating breath-taking prop/environment modelling and texturing techniques, both high and low poly
  • Proficiency with multiple 3D packages such as Maya, Max, Modo and Zbrush
  • Understanding of skinning, rigging and basic animation
  • Texturing skills within Photoshop and Substance Painter
  • In depth knowledge of PBR workflow in Substance Designer and Quixel Mixer
  • You're happy with the typical game engines: Unity and Unreal
  • You've shipped at least two games, ideally working on both from inception to completion

This is a brand new role with a studio that enjoys an excellent reputation. They have a team of 30, and enjoy a genuine friendly environment. The management take the well-being of their team very seriously, they have two trained Mental Health First-Aiders, they enjoy a flexible working schedule around core hours and free exercise classes are available including Yoga and Pilates.

Salary for this role is between £40,000-£50,000 plus benefits. It's a permanent role based in Manchester City Centre.
