Fantastic opportunity for a Lead Programmer C++ to join this independent game dev studio developing a globally recognised multi-platform AAA sci-fi / horror title. Getting in right at the start of the project you'll be integral in shaping the team and games. In joining the team, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of key components of the production of a full game and further develop your skills and career. 

The studio is based just 10 mins from Manchester city centre with free parking and excellent public transport links. They have a successful history of delivering great titles, hitting metacritic levels of 77 and 78.

 

Requirements:

Strong working knowledge of C++

Familiarity with working in 3rd party engines like Unreal Engine 4 and Unity

Multiplatform development experience

At least 2 years in a Senior Programmer or Lead Programmer role

Approachable attitude and work ethic

A self-motivated worker who can prioritise tasks for entire code team

Exceptional management and communication skills.

Sound understanding of software development practices.

Ability to adapt or suggest adaptations to existing Engines and Workflows

Good working knowledge of continuous integration practices

Previous experience working with VR would be nice but not essential

Interest in sci-fi/horror genres but not essential

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

Take the lead in code direction for the studio.

Provide concise development progress updates to production team.

Able to provide feedback, guidance and advice to code team as needed.

Identify development risks on projects and develop contingency plans to put into place with the team.

Be able to grow and develop the code team, with a focus on mentoring, developing team members and performance management.

Be responsible for ensuring we follow solid coding practices and maintaining a high bar for our code quality.
