We are partnered with ustwo Games in London and they need a Lead Programmer to join them.
This innovative studio is best known for their BAFTA award winning IP ‘Monument Valley’ and are a team who love making interactive experiences that delight players and challenge the medium.
Ustwo’s ethos is born from a passion for the industry and eclectic influences that encourage them to think about games in non-traditional ways, helping to make digital experiences that defy (and hopefully define) expectations. You will be instrumental in continuing to develop the ustwo world!
The Role:
- As part of project leadership, you will be collectively responsible for quality of the product and efficiency of the team (up to 10 people)
- Leading the programming team on your project (up to 4 programmers), to help plan and guide programming work
- Collaborating with other leads to make design decisions that take into account technical cost and risk
- Line-managing other programmers, mentoring and supporting personal development within the team
- Ensuring code quality and good working practices are developed and maintained
- Owning technical decision-making, building a codebase that can be iterated during development and is performant and maintainable after release
- Leading by example: write code, do code reviews, collaborate with designers and artists
- Guiding engineering work from the very beginning of the project, from initial prototype to post-release support. Change approach to suit different stages of the project
Requirements:
- 7+ years industry experience
- You have experienced multiple full production cycles
- You have shipped at least one project as a Lead Programmer
- Firm understanding of how to write games in Unity/C#
- You can demonstrate broad knowledge of games engineering techniques
- Experience working on 3D games and good 3D maths skills
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and decision-making skills
Bonus Points:
- Mobile app development experience
- Secondary skill sets (game design, art, audio etc.)
- ObjC/Swift/Java/Xcode/Android Studio
- PC/Console development experience
- Graphics programming experience
- Unreal Engine
