A North East based Games studio are currently looking for a talented Online Developer to work on the backend services, for range of new Console and PC titles.

Founded by established industry experts, the team are made up of award winning developers who have come from AAA backgrounds and have a history of releasing a range of high quality games, some of which have been adored in the games industry. 

This role can offer a chance to own quite a large area of the code development and would suit someone who enjoys working in a small, ‘indie feel’ team. The studio requires this person to work closely with the Lead Backend Programmer in maintaining the server and its capabilities. The Backend is already set up and ready to go, so your task will be to work on enhancing its features to be able to cope with a huge demand and be involved with how quickly users connect to the game without any issues

The games will be exciting and fast paced, so part of your role must ensure that the gameplay process is smooth and lag free. You will also have a hand in developing the code for fair matchmaking features and player leaderboards.

Requirements 

  • Past experience in a similar Backend/Online/Server Developer role 
  • Experienced with Node.js, PostgreSQL and AWS (especially EC2, RDS, S3, IAM)
  • An interest in working in the games industry
