Great opportunity for a Senior Gameplay Programmer C++ / UE4, to join this new, exciting, well funded games studio working on a AAA multiplayer action adventure title.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in the programming team helping create their first title that will shape their future franchise. Working closely with all other departments they are looking for a pro-active team player to help create the gameplay code required to construct the game.
Main Responsibilities
- Working under the direction of the Programming Director and Lead Game programmer you will be responsible for multiple areas of the game that could include AI systems, player mechanics, combat systems, GUI systems and more.
- You will need to be able to work independently, as well as working closely with other departments to deliver on the studios project vision.
- Writing networked systems so that all areas of the codebase are future proofed.
- Use C++ and Unreal to achieve the above.
- Mentor Junior and mid-level Game Programmers.
- Participate in regular code reviews.
- Write unit tests, functional tests, data validation tests, and game-wide automated tests that validate the ongoing stability of your work and others.
The Ideal Candidates Will Have
- An in-depth knowledge of Unreal, and a minimum of one shipped console title developed in Unreal, ideally cross platform.
- A good degree or post-graduate qualification, or relevant experience, in Computer Science or a related subject.
- A Demonstrable talent for programming gameplay and mechanics, with a clear understanding of what makes games feel fun.
- Fluent in object-oriented C++ with excellent debugging and documentation skills.
- Excellent problem solver with a knack of providing creative solutions to day-to-day development issues
- A clear understanding of systems optimisation.
- A self-motivated team player with the desire to dive in, understand code, and learn quickly.
- A genuine ambition to make amazing games.
- The ability to time manage and time estimate complex programming tasks.
