Senior Technical Designer

  • Location: London
  • Salary/rate: DOE
  • Date posted: 30/06/20
  • Job reference: 7861
  • Permanent

We're working with an established game developer based in London who are working on a Scifi themed tactical shooter, they're building their team and are now looking for a Senior Technical Designer to join the squad. They want this person to specifically own the Combat element of the game, you'll be deep diving on balancing weapons, fire rate, running speed things like that; anything that will affect the gun play and core combat feel will be in your realm.

You'd ideally be able to be autonomous in this role, bring solutions and ideas rather than problems. The team want someone with an opinion and who can bring that to the table. You'd ideally be constantly bringing the 'three C's' to mind when making any key decisions. You bring with you a superb sense of game-feel. You don't have to come from a background on Shooters, but if you have say strong RPG or other technical design background, but have a passion or are huge player of FPS/Tactical Shooters, that would also work.

To be considered for this role, we'd like to see:

  • Long term career commitment to Game Design and Game Development
  • In-depth knowledge of technical game design
  • Mathematically minded person, someone who's comfortable with the nuts and bolts of balancing systems
  • You take design inspiration from all sorts of games on multiple platforms
  • Genuine interest/passion for Shooter titles
  • Confident and collaborative communication style

This is a great role on a brand new and unannounced game, working with a friendly and inclusive studio. They're mindful of your health and actively steer away from unpaid overtime and similar practices.
