Amiqus have partnered with an exciting Award-Winning Games Studio based in the South East who are known for setting the quality bar on console and VR titles.
They are currently going through a period of expansion and require a Technical Designer to work on a variety of projects from AAA console to high-end VR titles.
As the Technical Designer, you will be outlining new ideas for the title, such as prototyping, scripting and implementing top notch game mechanics, working closely with Gameplay programmers to ensure the game flows. You’ll work very closely with the technical features the game has to offer, which includes balancing to ensure a realistic experience.
You will be up to date with present Console/VR/PC trends and enjoy playing and making games. The ideal candidate will understand the console market and have good knowledge of what works and what doesn’t.
As the Technical Designer you will work closely with the Game Director. Your remit will be broad but focusing on defining and refining the core gameplay experiences, the key beats of the story and the use of mechanics to accomplish them.
This role will promote freedom in your work style and will allow you to be creative with your design – the design is at the heart of all their games so it’s important to understand the overall experience of playing the game, rather than focusing solely on the mechanics. If you enjoy working with cutting edge VR Tech, then we’ll want to hear from you.
As a key member of the team you will also get involved with core design principles and be able to implement new ideas on a large-scale project. This role is remote working initially with a view to work on site when it’s safe to do so.
Requirements
- At least 2 Years’ experience in a Game Design position
- Shipped at least one title on Console or PC platforms
- High energy and a passionate designer
- Good technical knowledge of Python, LUA or other similar scripting language
- An interest in story-telling/action genres
- A bonus if you have experience of Unreal engine
The studio can offer perks such as flexible core hours, share options, days off for special events like birthdays and extra (duvet day) holidays.
