Technical Director

  • Location: Brighton
  • Salary/rate: DOE
  • Date posted: 05/12/17
  • Job reference: 5855a
  • Permanent
This vacancy has now expired.

Are you a Technical Director, or a Lead Programmer looking to take a step into that Director level position?

We're partnered with a small, independent Console developer who are an established team looking to grow. They have a fantastic catalogue of shipped games, receiving high (90's) meta-critic score. Their latest game was a VR title. They are now working on an unannounced PS VR title and are in the process of on-boarding new projects. As well as their own IP they work as 3rd party partners for key publishers.

The studio is made up of experienced people who are averse to bureaucratic and crunch heavy cultures, they love tech, games, fun and family. They have never entered a crunch period, and it's something they're proud of. This role would see you working directly with the two founders. As well as hands on code (C++, C# & Unity dependent on project) you will be establishing code standards, conducting reviews and managing their small team. Long term you'd be expected to look at the engine, middle-ware and tech choices of the studio. You'd work with the founders to decide the best course of action to future-proof the studio. As you work in the role, it will develop around your needs and wants in the role.

To be considered, we'd love to see:

  • Demonstrable and recent experience in a role utilizing your C++ coding skills
  • You've shipped multiple games on Console platforms (mobile is also fine)
  • Excellent understanding of what it means to be a Technical Director
  • Good leadership and mentoring ability; the knowledge to know the difference
  • Genuine passion for games, technology and innovation

This role is based in Hove, near Brighton. The studio itself is well equipped and modern, the happy and positive environment reflects the team's feelings and attitude. They do offer a competitive salary as well as generous relocation package. They will also consider share options if that is something which appeals.
