Are you a Technical Director or Lead Programmer with a combination of hands on coding skills and management experience? Do you want to work directly with the Co-Founder of a successful mobile game studio managing a team of 20 programmers?
We're partnered with one of the UK's most successful independent developers, they've grown into a multi IP development studio, who not only work on their own IP, but work with bigger studios on collaborative projects. The studio has successfully grown to the point where they need a Technical Director to take over the day to day management of the 20 strong code team. This role will see you working directly with one of the co-founders and focusing on:
- Setting code standards and reviewing code against this
- Day to day management of a team of 20, working on up to three different projects
- Looking at long term studio technical issues such as back-end availability and robustness
- Renew and manage internal studio middleware, tools and equipment
- Hands on coding within the Unity engine (C#)
The studio operates a friendly and collaborative environment, everyone has a voice and they avoid unnecessary bureaucracy. They value hard work, clear communication and enthusiasm for games and mobile games specifically. Although their main projects have been mobile, they are looking to work on several VR projects as well. The studio is continuing to grow, so will your role once you've joined, so you can expect to be challenged and to progress. This is not an existing role within the studio, so you can expect to be able to have genuine input as to the scope and reach of this position.
To be considered, we'd like to see:
- Recent hands on experience in the Unity engine on at least 3 shipped titles
- A background in console or other languages is a positive
- Genuine interest and knowledge in cloud based computing
- Passionate gamer
- Strong communicator who is able to critique and praise with tact and diplomacy
- Excellent understanding of game and studio wide technical architecture
Package wise, the founders will tailor a package around you which will contain a very competitive salary and company benefits. For the right person, they will also consider bonus schemes and share options. They're open to negotiation. This is a rare opportunity to join a stable and already successful studio which is continuing to grow. The role is challenging and varied, and the games high caliber and well thought of.
