This vacancy has now expired.

I'm working with the leadership team at a top level Mobile Game Developer in London to help them find a Tech Director for their new, announced, Sci-Fi IP. The game is very early on in development, at early prototype stage. They are looking for someone to lead this small team and grow a team to develop a AAA standard mobile title using the Unreal engine and C++, a move away from their usual Unity/C# stack. It's an incredible opportunity to develop a console quality game on mobile devices.

They need someone who is happy to be hands on at first, whilst the team is small, but also able to pull back and make those bigger long-term tech choices around the architecture, engine, client and back-end. You'll also grow the team in accordance with your tech choices. I can see this role growing as the project matures. It's an excellent role for Senior, Lead or Principle developers looking to take a step towards those top tier leadership roles. You will have a  huge amount of autonomy in this role, a great chance to implement the tech choices, pipeline and processes as you see fit.

To be considered for the role, we'd like to see:

  • A long term career in video game development, you'll have ideally shipped 3+ titles
  • In depth knowledge of C++ and the Unreal Engine. Ideally you'd have used other engines too
  • Good understanding of overall game architecture
  • Collaborative communication skills
  • Passion for games and game development

This is a new and original role, it's a superb chance to get in a big title at such an early stage. Ideal for those candidates stepping up to TD level, or likewise good for someone looking to solidify experience at this tier. The salary on offer is up to £120,000 base salary plus stock, holidays and bonuses. The role is based in Central London in a comfortable and modern studio.
