Technical Director

  • Location: Uppsala, Sweden
  • Salary/rate: DOE
  • Date posted: 10/06/20
  • Job reference: 7836
  • Permanent

We're partnered exclusively with a small console developer in Uppsala, Sweden. They're a collection of experienced and talented industry professionals who have banded together under a common cause - to make great games. They only have a small team of around 20 at the moment, but that is growing. This role - Technical Director - is to help not only solve current pipeline and tech choice discussions, but also future-proof the studio. They already have plans for their next project and the development of the studio itself. Although they have a talented programming team, they do need and want a figure head who will take on the more strategic and long term technical choices. The co-founders are more on the creative, art & design side - they're ideally looking for a technical counter-part who will come in at an 'eye level' with them.

This role is ideal for a Technical Director who wants to make big, strategic technical choices whilst also remaining quite hands on. They fully anticipate their next game will be made in Unreal Engine 5, they also have great relationships with the likes of AMD and NVIDIA so it's a great opportunity to flex your technical know-how. With them being a small team, you can expect a pragmatic approach, with no bureaucracy and red-tape.

To be considered for this role, we'd love to see:

  • Long term commitment to the Games industry as a career and a craft
  • You've worked on several shipped console games
  • C++ and Unreal Engine experience
  • You've maintained sharp coding skills
  • Confident and collaborative communication skills

This is a great role, the studio co-founders are well known and respected for their creative ability. You can expect a very competitive benefits package and salary. The studio is brand new and purpose built around their needs.
