Amiqus have partnered with a AAA London studio, who are looking for game designers with great technical skills to join an experienced team of developers working on the future of VR gaming.

This is a hands-on role, initially focused on prototyping and tuning gameplay mechanics in small multi-discipline groups, then working with the wider team to prepare mechanics and features for the efficient production of AAA VR game.

  • You design mechanics which can be balanced and extended to create variety and depth
  • You are able to spot commonality in mechanics and features to create core systems
  • You are excellent at implementing features & mechanics and know how to tune for ‘feel’
  • You are flexible in your workflow and can learn to use new tools quickly.
  • You can not only use tools, but can give feedback on how they might be improved
  • You are happy to show your work early and embrace feedback from all disciplines.
  • You are organised and always looking for ways to improve processes.
  • You are authentic, honest and comfortable challenging the status quo



  • Work with lead designer to deliver on the product vision.
  • Responsible for implementation of game mechanics.
  • Use industry standard and in-house tool sets.
  • Assist with prototyping, research and development.
  • Refine the design process and pipelines. Identify and define tool requirements.
  • Proponent of clean, readable scripting practice
  • Communicate design requirements with developers.
  • Defining the required code components for a mechanic


  • Experience in object orientated scripting such as C# or Lua.
  • Great Document writing and diagrammatic skills
  • Experience with working in visual scripting tools such as Blueprint.
  • Experience of taking gameplay mechanics from prototype phase to shippable quality
  • Portfolio that demonstrates ability to create satisfying mechanics.
  • Experience in owning 'feel' mechanics (e.g. control systems, character mechanics etc).


  • Experience in developing for VR and/or AAA games
  • Experience working with and supporting new engine and tool development
  • Experience in working with Unreal Engine
  • Awareness of the latest VR techniques and trends
