Freelance IT Consultant – Unreal Engine Games Studio

 

Location:  Hybrid – Minimum 3 days per week on-site  – Non negotiable Type:  Freelance / Temporary

Duration:  6 months (paternity cover, possible extension)

Start:  ASAP

 

The Role

 

We’re looking for a  hands-on, strategic IT Consultant  to keep our game development studio running smoothly during a key team member’s paternity leave. You’ll work closely with the IT team to ensure  zero disruption  to our Unreal Engine workflows and help us deliver world-class games.

This is a mix of  day-to-day support  and  strategic improvements —perfect for someone who thrives in fast-paced, creative environments.

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Keep things moving:  Provide seamless cover for core IT functions and maintain continuity across projects.
  • Support Unreal workflows:  Configure and optimise UE5 environments for PC and console development.
  • Manage builds & pipelines:  Maintain automated build systems, source control, and deployment processes.
  • Handle dev kits:  Oversee console dev kits and platform compliance.
  • Data & security:  Forecast infrastructure needs, manage costs, and enforce IT security policies.
  • Be the go-to expert:  Troubleshoot issues, document fixes, and share knowledge with the team.

 

What We’re Looking For

 

  • Essential:
  • Proven experience supporting Unreal Engine development teams.
  • Hands-on with UE5 setup, build systems, Perforce/Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with console dev kits (PlayStation, Xbox).
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.

 

  • Nice to Have:
  • AAA or mid-sized studio experience.
  • Knowledge of backup and asset storage strategies.
  • Experience with virtual production or cinematic workflows.

 

Success Looks Like

 

  • Smooth IT operations during cover period.
  • Stable, performant Unreal environments.
  • Build pipelines and dev kits running at full capacity.
  • Positive feedback from the team.

 

If you’re proactive, collaborative, and ready to make an impact,  we’d love to hear from you . Day rates 350-500 per day , possible extension available too

 

Please note priority will be given to games industry experienced candidates as Unreal env experience is essential
