Lead Programmer - Helsinki

A well-established games studio with over two decades of experience and a team of ~70 is looking for a Lead Programmer to join its Helsinki-based team.

The studio works across high-profile partner projects alongside leading global developers, as well as developing its own IP. This role will focus on a long-running, globally successful mobile title, supporting its continued evolution in collaboration with a major industry partner.

The Role:

This position acts as the technical lead for a live game, combining hands-on development with strategic oversight. The successful candidate will help shape the technical direction, improve systems, and support a high-performing engineering team working on a mature codebase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own technical direction, architecture, and code quality
  • Lead technical discovery and feature development planning
  • Evaluate new features, tools, and systems to ensure long-term scalability
  • Collaborate across engineering, design, and external stakeholders
  • Drive improvements to tools, processes, and performance
  • Act as a unifying technical voice across teams and partners

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a technical leadership role within games
  • Strong background working on live, free-to-play mobile titles
  • Excellent C++ skills and experience across game systems
  • Solid debugging, profiling, and performance optimisation expertise
  • Familiarity with multi-platform development (iOS/Android; PC/Web a plus)
  • Experience delivering at scale (CI/CD, live ops, releases, incidents)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Additional Info

  • Hybrid working (minimum 3 days onsite in Helsinki)
  • Applicants must already have the right to work in Finland
