Jo Haslam Presented With The G Into Gaming Award
Liz Prince, Business Head at Amiqus, has presented Jo Haslam with this year’s G Into Gaming (GIG) Award at the GamesIndustry.biz Best Places to Work Awards, recognising her outstanding contribution to creating a more inclusive games industry.
Presented by Liz and sponsored by Amiqus each year, the GIG Award celebrates people who are changing the industry for the better – creating opportunities, challenging barriers and helping others build careers where they can thrive and feel they belong.
This year’s recipient, Jo Haslam, brings that commitment to life through her creative leadership, support for colleagues and volunteering across the wider games community.
Jo is Design Director at Snap Finger Click, a BAFTA Breakthrough winner and a member of The Game Awards Future Class. Her 18-year career began on the BAFTA award-winning Buzz! franchise and has since encompassed console and mobile titles including Furby! BOOM, Family Feud and UNO. With a passion for
social gaming, she strives to bring something unique to every game she works on.
Alongside those creative achievements, the testimonials shared ahead of the award highlighted the difference Jo makes to the people around her. Presenting the award, Liz said: “She doesn’t just give people opportunities. She gives them the confidence to believe they deserve them.” Colleagues described how Jo has helped junior team members rebuild their confidence after previous experiences when they had been discouraged from
speaking up. By asking for their opinions, listening and encouraging them to question ideas, she has helped people recognise the value of their own contribution.
That approach also informs the workplace culture she has helped to create: one where seniority does not determine whose opinion matters, pay transparency is taken seriously, and flexible working recognises people’s lives and responsibilities. Jo has also spoken publicly about the importance of supporting caregivers in the games industry. Her contribution extends beyond her studio. As a volunteer Operations Lead at Limit Break Mentorship, she helps create opportunities for marginalised game developers. She also gives her time to students and people finding their way into games.
As Liz explained during her presentation, the feedback consistently recognised Jo’s kindness and honesty alongside her creative ambition, commercial understanding and determination to make things happen.
One colleague captured her impact particularly well: she “doesn’t just open doors for people, she makes sure they feel they truly belong once they walk through.” For Amiqus, celebrating that kind of leadership is at the heart of our continued support for the GIG Award. Helping people enter the industry is an essential first step; giving them the support, confidence and opportunities to flourish helps build a stronger future for games.
Congratulations to Jo on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for everything you do to make the industry a more welcoming place.
