A North-East based Games studio are currently looking for a Design Manager to join their growing team. Founded by established industry experts, the team are made up of award-winning developers, who have come from AAA backgrounds and have a history of releasing a range of high-quality games, some of which have been adored in the games industry.

As the Design Manager you will work closely with the Studio Managers and Creative Directors and completely own the Design teams progress, design strategies, mentoring and have a huge input on the studios game design department. The current design team stands at around 50, you’ll be helping with the recruitment, retention and design pipelines in a people driven role.

The studio has a long-standing history in creating some of the best games on the market on console platforms. This role will have you working closely with the management team and will get involved with various aspects of development, which includes liaising with other department leads and mentoring, motivating, leading and growing your own team. Your primary role will be to deliver world class Design content, which enhances the narrative and the player’s immersion in the titles.

This role can be fully remote working (you must be in the UK already) or a hybrid working model if you prefer.

This role is ideal for a Lead Designer looking for a more hands off, strategic role in the business where they can get involved in core studio decisions.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Senior/Lead Game Designer or similar role in a games industry environment
  • Released titles as a Game Designer
  • Excellent people and mentoring skills
  • Proactive attitude and ability to take ownership of own area
